Students Review Books for Library Display

Several third graders read books from the 2012-13 Texas Bluebonnet Award master list and then wrote book reviews to be displayed on the Herrington library bulletin board. Using Microsoft Word, these students learned how to insert photos of the books and also how to insert a "drop cap" to make their piece more visually appealing.

Here are some of their book reviews:

Students Create Video to Honor Auxiliary Employees

Herrington's auxiliary employees were honored with an appreciation assembly on Friday, April 13. Custodians, cafeteria staff, bus drivers, and crossing guards were recognized for their important roles in keeping our school running smoothly.

Cafeteria worker Andrea Ruiz is greeted by students as she makes her way to the front to receive a certificate of appreciation.
A group of third graders created a video featuring these employees and thanking them for their work at Herrington. Students took photographs with digital cameras and created PowerPoint slides for each employee. They also wrote the narration for each slide and recorded it using Photo Story 3, the program that was used to produce the video. Enjoy the video, which is linked below!
