Going Google with Third Graders

Third grade students at Herrington wrapped up the fall semester by logging into their Google Apps for Education (GAFE) accounts for the first time. They logged into their Gmail and sent emails to their teachers. For most students, this was their first experience using email. They learned important guidelines about email and reviewed Acceptable Use Policy and internet safety.

Students in Mr. Romano's third grade class listen to instructions about logging into their Google accounts.

Students also used their GAFE accounts to create presentations about the famous people that they researched during December. A Google presentation is similar to a Microsoft Office PowerPoint presentation, so the students' PowerPoint skills transferred nicely to Google presentations. Students shared their presentations with their classes when they were complete.

This screen shot was captured from a presentation about LeBron James that was done by Corbin in Mr. Romano's class.
